Who we are
Nzema Union UK was founded in July 2009 as the Nzema Association Milton Keynes, following a shared vision amongst members of the Nzema community to create an organisation founded on unity, mutual support, cultural preservation, and community service.
What began as a local association serving the Nzema community in Milton Keynes quickly grew into something much greater. As more members from towns and cities across England, Scotland, Wales, and Northern Ireland joined the organisation, the Association evolved into a truly national community, reflecting the aspirations and diversity of the Nzema people throughout the United Kingdom.
To recognise this remarkable growth and its expanding national presence, the organisation was renamed Nzema Union UK. Nzema Union UK has continued to grow in both membership and impact. Through charitable initiatives, welfare support, educational programmes, cultural celebrations, youth engagement, leadership development, and community partnerships, we have remained steadfast in our commitment to improving lives and strengthening communities.
Today, as a registered charity, Nzema Union UK proudly serves as a trusted organisation that empowers individuals, supports families, preserves the rich heritage of the Nzema people, and promotes inclusion, compassion, and opportunity for all.
As we look to the future, we remain guided by the vision of our founders while embracing new opportunities to expand our impact. Together with our members, volunteers, supporters, and partners, we continue to build a lasting legacy of unity, service, empowerment, and community development for present and future generations.
